More about the app

See what Gary, one of the App creators says in this video.

Gary, from Reflection, speaking:

Do you live in the Wyre Forest area or plan on visiting soon? If you are, then you need to download the Wyre Forest Heritage Trail. This free app uses the latest augmented reality and GPS technology to bring historical and fictional stories to life.

Providing your device is compatible, jump on the App Store or the Google Play Store and download the app, then head off to Bewdley, Kidderminster, or Stourport and enjoy this exciting trail. Select your location, then use map view or AR view to navigate your way to the activation points.

Using map view, you can see the pins, click a pin, and navigate to it - you’re the red dot on the map, by the way. We suggest you flip to AR view because that gives you an arrow direction marker and a meter countdown to the activation point.

Once you arrive at the activation point, it’ll put an X on the ground. Just make sure you’re in a safe area, and when you press start, a hologram will appear and tell you a story. Once the story is complete, you’re rewarded with a trinket, and the idea is to collect all five trinkets from that town, then move on to the next town and collect another five trinkets, and so on until you complete the trail.

This app is completely free and a fun way to spend a few hours in the towns across the Wyre Forest and learn something new at the same time. Please let us know how you get on, and feel free to take pictures and share on social - but don’t forget to hashtag #wfhtrail.

I do hope you enjoy it, and let us know how you get on.
